Kenpo (sometimes spelled Kempo) is a very effective self-defense art,..... If taught correctly. Like all martial arts it is only as good as what you have been taught. That is dependent on the instructor and his knowledge and ability to teach others. As for the statement by Nick Jinn about it being good with Jujitsu, Kenpo/ Kempo already has many joint locks, throws, ...etc., as seen in Jujitsu. There is no need to add anything if it is taught as it should be. WARNING: kenpo schools are now becoming McDojo just as other martial arts. Always avoid any school that sells black belt contracts or tells you that you can be any belt in X amount of time. NOTE: Although I've studied several martial arts, the main art I teach is a Kempo system that is not known and has no common roots with the well known styles. |
