I need help choosing a martial art?
Alright, so I'm sixteen and I've been wanting to get into martial arts for awhile now, and I'm finally able to, but i cannot decide on an art to choose.I'm reasonably tall at 5 11', I'm thin, but toned, not exactly fit but I'm not unfit either,What i want from an art is to enhance my kicks with abit of hand strikes, as I'm allready a good puncher, I'd like an art that uses stretchs alot as i want to improve flexibility for kicks, I'd also like to learn an art that may help with jumps.I want a fairly flashy art to impress people, mainly myself, but something that will keep me fit and give a foundation that will help when i eventually move onto a more serious type of art like muay thai for real fighting situations.thanksI'd like to choose a flashy art as i'm allready a reasonably good fighter considering, and just want to start with something abit more fun and extravagent, with tae kwon do, is there any phillosophy invovled? as i'd prefer a more practical art if possible

Having a bit of trouble choosing a martial art....someone who knows about them please give me some advice :)?
Hey, i know that a lot of people ask this question here but i wanted to pick a martial art that fits perfectly to my wants.Ok, i want a martial art that is very good when it comes to self defence quick moves and grapples mainly to disable the attacker and disengage out of combat. I do not mind if it includes slow moves or tactics. oh i would also want one that is very precise and teaches you a fair amount about the human anatomy and where to strike etc....Ive been looking around a bit and seem to be interested in Leopard kung futai chininjutsuju jutsuand hapkidoPlease guys tell me what u guys think would be best for me and dont just stick to whatever one you do.Thanks Oh and i also want something that would improve agility and reaction times as i progress with the art.

Need help choosing a martial art to study.?
I'm 17, 5'5" and 130 lbs. A bit over weight, but not much at all. I just lost 45 lbs. and now that I am in shape enough to finally learn a martial art, I want to throw myself into it as I have wanted to learn for a long time. I would also like the martial art I go with to get me in shape. I have 2 years exp. in Karate hate it , and 1 yr. exp. in Kenpo ok . I do know what I am looking for, kinda. I have no fear of contact at all, I play Football. I am small and like using that as an advantage elbows, quick punches, that sort of stuff. I am looking for a practical martial art street viable , not a competition art or one with a large amount of kicking TKD . I am quick and brutal, so something along the lines of Muy Tai comes to mind. I do not want something extremely formal like Karate or TKD, however I don't want something as informal as Boxing or Kickboxing. I personally hate katas, I prefer more practical lessons. I also need cheap, I can not afford a lot as I am a student out of work, so Krav Maga is out of the question. Thank you in advance, I appreciate it.

Can someone help me choose a martial Art to study?
ok so me and my friends where talking and we all wound up promising each other that after we graduate we would all study a martial art form and in 10 years meet up and test our metal I now it sounds dumb but the theory is that you become closer friends through combat . Well the problem is that they all know what it is there going to study but I dont .So I was hoping maybe someone who already studies martial arts can help. ok so first I m out of shape, I don t work out yet I m still really strong it s weird ,I m not too fast but faster than I look and have great reflecsas for some weird reason O and I don t now if this maters but I can take a punch pretty well to. now let s get one thing clear I m not just doing this because I want to fight my friends iv always wanted to learn some type of martial art to try and help me focus and be discipline as well as to help me spiritually. So if you have any advice it would be much apresheated.

Choosing a martial arts school???
I live in Arizona and I'm 14. My parents are going to let me take Tae Kwon Do if I can find a good school that teaches you the correct way and is acknowledged by different federations or something like that . How would I begin my search for a school like this? There are alot near my house, but they are very small and just one persons idea of a business.I really want to learn and that isn't going to happen unless I have a good school with great instructors.I just don't know where to begin my search to find schools that fit my parents requirements. Is there anything else I should look for in a martial arts school?

How to Choose a martial art?
how do i decide which one is best suited for me?

What's the best way to choose a Martial Art to study?
I know there are many options and I just did an " intro" class at a local dojo and they want to enroll me for a year of classes at a monthly rate for " all you can eat." It seemed like a nice place, lots of students, clean, lots of mats 4 teaching areas but I don't want to " marry" a style before I find out that I resonate with it. I'm interested in developing grace, discipline and getting back to my " prime" shape.

Choosing a martial art with messed up knee?
Im almost 17 and would really enjoy getting into some kind of martial art. I was in it when I was younger and loved it but we moved so I stopped. Since then ive had three major knee surgeries and am probably going to end up have knee replacement. I havent been able to do sports since i was 10 or 11. I think I could do some form of martial arts if I wore a brace that held my knee cap in place and gave my knee support so it couldnt give out. In this brace i pretty much can move anyway I want to or need to. Any ideas for a martial art I could try to start out with? I want something that challenges me mentally and physically. I'm really willing to work extremely hard to overcome this. Plus I want to be able to say yeah I have a messed up knee but I could still kick your butt Maybe I shouldnt be taking the chance because if I pull a ligament or tendon it wont heal but Im pretty sure brace will stop that..

Choosing a Martial Art?
I have been in a bind recently as to choosing a martial arts style to step into. What i hope to achieve from martial arts is extra fitness, stronger focus, skills and a art that focus's more on attack than defense. This is due to me being a very defensive person when i play sport games i choose defense options Always So if anyone would like to leave some comments based on what is a good way to help me choose an art or suggest some styles that may meet my needs thanks
